175°C High-Temperature Near-Bit System Achieves Success in Chongqing Shale Gas Block

In August 2022, QOILTECH CatLiD-II 675 Near-Bit Measurement While Drilling (MWD) system, designed for 175°C high-temperature environments, was successfully deployed in a shale gas well near Chongqing, earning strong client recognition.

QOILTECH CatLiD-II 675 Near-Bit Measurement While Drilling (MWD) system

The tool was run in hole at a depth of 2888 m. At entry, the well trajectory showed an inclination of 89.24°, an azimuth of 49.71°, and a true vertical depth of 2673.48 m. After reaching bottom, the near-bit system performed gamma re-measurements over a 20 m section and continued logging to total depth. The near-bit and remote gamma data aligned with steering requirements, supporting accurate geosteering. The well was drilled to 617 m footage in a single run, and post-operation inspection confirmed the tool remained in excellent condition.

This operation highlighted the reliable performance of the CatLiD-II 675 system under demanding high-temperature shale gas drilling conditions in Chongqing:

 - Effective electromagnetic short-range wireless transmission in shale gas formations and oil-based mud.

 - Stable long-term operation with high-temperature resistance, strong sealing, and vibration tolerance.

 - Reliable near-bit data transmission, MWD communication, and pulse decoding under high-temperature conditions.

QOILTECH's success in this project demonstrates its capability to deliver high-performance near-bit solutions for challenging shale gas developments.
