QOILTECH CatLiD-II-475 Near-Bit System Achieves Successful Operation
Release time:2022/12/29
In November 2022, QOILTECH CatLiD-II-475 Near-Bit Measurement While Drilling (MWD) system achieved outstanding results in a well operation near Jincheng, Shanxi Province, earning high praise from the client.

The target formation was the No.3 coal seam, characterized by low gamma values, with the roof and floor showing relatively higher values.

The CatLiD-II-475 tool was run in hole at a depth of 1415 m. At the time of entry, the well trajectory data showed an inclination of 85.17°, an azimuth of 155.09°, a true vertical depth of 1164.13 m, and a closure distance of 413.64 m.

Following directional drilling commands, the well was completed within 10 days, with a total footage of 905 m, 209 hours of downhole time, and 156 hours of circulation time. The tool performed reliably throughout the operation.

The formation exhibited significant variations, requiring multiple trajectory adjustments, including layer tracking after bottom-out, navigating through interbedded rock, and correcting trajectory after roof contact. The real-time gamma curves provided clear stratigraphic signatures that strongly supported accurate geosteering.

In addition, QOILTECH ensured proactive planning and preparation before the operation, overcoming the challenges posed by the pandemic to deliver a successful result that won full client recognition.
