Cost-Effective QOILTECH Near-Bit Solution Succeeds in Slim Well Project
Release time:2024/09/11

Recently, the QOILTECH CatLiD-II-600 high-temperature near-bit LWD measurement system was successfully deployed in the Fuling shale gas "slim wel" project. The team led and completed the field service operations, helping the client achieve cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

Cost-Effective QOILTECH Near-Bit Solution Succeeds in

The project site is located in Tanzhong Village, Fuling District of Chongqing, within the eastern Sichuan Basin, a region characterized by complex folded and faulted geological structures. The operation targeted the Longmaxi shale formation with a horizontal well, aiming for efficient reservoir development.

Prior to the operation, OQILTECH team held in-depth technical meetings with the client’s expert team to ensure thorough preparation. During drilling, the team conducted detailed technical briefings and risk communication with the rig crew and other stakeholders, laying a solid foundation for smooth execution.

The CatLiD-II-600 near-bit tool was run in at 2,598 m and delivered measurement curves highly consistent with upper instruments, providing accurate data for well trajectory control. During drilling, the near-bit gamma curve exhibited clear variations and high resolution, enabling precise identification of reservoir entry, trajectory tracking, and improved drilling efficiency and borehole smoothness.

Outstanding Results:

  ● Single run footage: 2,827 m without failure.

  ● Reservoir encounter rate: 100%.

  ● Endurance: 305 hours of continuous downhole operation.

  ● High reliability: Stable signal transmission under 110°C well temperature and oil-based mud conditions.

The success of this "slim well" project not only demonstrates OQILTECH's strong technical capabilities, but also provides robust support for the efficient development of shale gas and other unconventional resources, while delivering real cost and efficiency gains.
